Lost heaven

John Milton is an English poet, essayist and politician. His name has remained throughout the centuries largely thanks to the poem “Paradise Lost,” first published in 1667. Inspired by the biblical story of the fall of man and his expulsion from paradise, Milton tells the story of the temptation of Adam and Eve. The work amazes with the depth of its philosophical reflections; the text raises questions of divine predestination, the confrontation between good and evil, and analyzes the boundaries of human freedom.
