Are memories a blessing or a curse? What does a child's memory store? Why do participants in the same events so often remember them in completely different ways? This story is about the past and its reflection in memory. About events and people, signs of the times and household items. Here is what I remember and what my mother told me. This is a story about what was absolute happiness for me, and humiliation and exile for her. Her escape and my attempt to return to where she fled from. Sometimes, in order not to go crazy, a person needs to believe in what did not happen and forget what did happen. This is called memory. Masha Traub
