The Idiot

"The Idiot" - possibly the darkest and at the same time the most sensual novel by Fyodor Dostoevsky. Prince Lev Nikolaevich Myshkin returns to Russia after staying in a Swiss sanatorium and finds himself drawn into a complicated love triangle. His sincere impulses and feelings clash with the cruel world of jealousy, narcissism, and the saturation of those around him. But the true nerve of the novel is given by two central heroines: the beautiful and haughty Nastasya Filippovna Barashkova, who masks the suffering of her soul with mockery of those around her, and the desperately striving to break free from her dull surroundings, Aglaia Epanchina.
