Sons and Lovers

The novel "Sons and Lovers" is the first serious work of David Herbert Lawrence (1885—1930), which brought the young writer worldwide recognition. It is a novel about complex family relationships, where a mother, disappointed in love, transfers all her unspent tenderness to her sons, which later provokes drama in the life of the younger son. The attachment to the mother conflicts with his attraction to girls and women. To love someone other than his mother is equivalent to betrayal, and it is very difficult to free oneself from the shackles he has bound himself with.
