Niccolò Machiavelli dedicated part of his life to public service. His experiences and observations of the methods used by politicians formed the basis of the treatise "The Prince", which is known worldwide today. In it, Machiavelli advocated for strong power, allowing for cunning, betrayal, and violence in the interest of strengthening it. Of course, this provoked controversial opinions, and the Catholic Church added his work to the list of banned books. Nevertheless, the ideas of this historian and philosopher regarding methods of governance, ways to attain power, the qualities a ruler should possess, and what determines the success of the reforms he implements have found application in politics and remain relevant to this day. The book also includes the work "On the Art of War", in which the author, not being a military man and acquiring his knowledge theoretically, expressed such profound ideas that they encompassed various aspects of human life. Machiavelli's works are so aphoristic that they have long spread into quotes that we often use, even without realizing who their author is.
