“Ramayana. The Sea of Rama's Deeds” is an outstanding work of the Indian poet Tulsidas (1532–1624), written in Hindi and translated into Russian by the famous Soviet indologist and linguist, academician Alexei Petrovich Barannikov (1890–1952).
By reproducing the plot of the... ancient Indian poem “Ramayana,” Tulsidas reminded readers of India's heroic past, its legendary heroes, and the gods who aided them in establishing a kingdom of goodness and justice on Earth during a difficult time for his homeland.
A. P. Barannikov provided the text of the poem with detailed comments (more than 2,000), making this book a kind of encyclopedia of Hinduism.
