Crime and Punishment

The novel by F.M. Dostoevsky "Crime and Punishment" (1866) is one of the most significant works in the history of world literature. It encompasses several intersecting layers: historical, philosophical, psychological, dramatic, detective, and religious. Moreover, it is also a "polyphonic"... novel – a genre first created by Dostoevsky. The author does not condemn his characters – Raskolnikov, Sonya, and others; he travels with them on a torturous path from thought to crime and seeks the way to repentance, expressing his view on the nature of man and his purpose. This edition is illustrated with the works of Mikhail Shemyakin, which help to better penetrate the metaphysical meaning of the novel and have an autobiographical nature, testifying to the artist's internal experiences of self-discovery.
