The Idiot

Dostoevsky created "The Idiot" while experiencing one of the most difficult periods of his life. Creditors from whom he had to flee abroad, the death of his three-month-old daughter, a pathological addiction to roulette… His desperate situation pushed the writer to take on the idea that had long troubled him — to write a novel about a "positively beautiful man".
