Ivan Sergeyevich Shmelev (1873-1950) – a Russian writer and Orthodox thinker, twice nominated for the Nobel Prize. "The Sun of the Dead" – an epic novel about life in Bolshevik Crimea in 1921-1922. A novel that dares to confront the truth. The horrors of the Civil War, hunger, banditry, the loss of humanity – Shmelev witnessed these events and masterfully conveyed all shades of despair.
