The sixth book in the series about Anne Shirley.

Seven years have passed since the events in «Anne's House of Dreams». Anne and Gilbert live in Ingleside, and they have five children: James Matthew (Jem), Walter, twins Anne (Nan) and Diana (Di), and Shirley. Anne gives birth to their sixth child – Bertha Marilla Blythe, shortened to Rilla, who will become the delight and adoration of all her siblings.
The events of the novel span about six years. The children gradually grow up, find friends, get into scrapes from which Anne and Gilbert have to rescue them, recalling their own childhood mischiefs.
