Clifford Simak is one of the founding fathers of modern science fiction, giant writers, thanks to whom the concept of the “golden age of science fiction” exists in American literature. At the beginning of his literary career, Simak wrote “hard”... science fiction and adventure works, as well as westerns, but then he pushed the boundaries of the SF genre and created his own style, which critics called soft, humanistic and even pastoral, comparing Simak’s prose with Bradbury’s prose. Over fifty-five years, Simak wrote about thirty novels and more than one hundred and twenty novels and short stories. He was awarded the Hugo, Nebula, Locus and other awards. Awarded the title of "Grand Master of the Nebula Award."
"All Flesh is Grass" is one of Simak's most famous novels. The provincial town of Millville is surrounded by an invisible barrier, inaccessible to humans. The barrier was erected by Flowers - creatures from another world, separated from the world of Earth by a microsecond of time. America is alarmed to such an extent that the government is ready to drop a hydrogen bomb on Millville. And if it weren’t for Bradshaw Carter, the main character of the novel, who found a common language with the aliens, and the local drunkard Shkalik Grant, this would probably have happened...
