The March of the Empire

The year seventeen hundred and seventh has just begun. The Russian troops are fighting against the Swedes, killing, perishing, defending the Fatherland. In the Russian kingdom, it is tumultuous, and sometimes even frightening: constant uprisings on the outskirts of the vast state, raids by the Crimean Tatars almost every spring. The young, neglected by his father's attention and care, Tsarevich Alexei is under the guardianship of the most illustrious Prince Menshikov, as active as the sovereign, but almost not paying attention to his lord's son. It so happened that another trip to the bath ended for the tsarevich with a strange loss of consciousness, after which he awoke not as he was just a few days ago. In the body of the young heir to the future great empire turns out to be our contemporary Ivan Pesteriev, who perished from a ball lightning strike. What path should the young man choose from now on: to remain the old Alexei, in whom his father is disappointed, or to choose the difficult, dangerous path of transformations, continuing the work of Peter the Great?
