The fourth book in the series «Library of World Literature» about the adventures of «guest from the future» Alice Selezneva and her old good acquaintances includes seven novellas and the story «Alice in the Guslar». The novella «There Are No...
Ghosts» describes how a twelve-year-old traveler finds herself in a parallel world. There she meets Count Dracula and a whole throng of witches. In Moscow, Alice will host a real genie; this is hinted at by the title of the novella «A Guest in the Jug». Science fiction writer Igor Vsevolodovich Mojeiko, known in the literary world under the pseudonym Kir Bulychev, will send his heroine to a planet where all tyrants are exiled. In «Dangerous Tales», Alice visits a world of legends. In another novella of the collection, she will have to unravel ancient mysteries. The other plots are equally intriguing. It is no coincidence that by the end of the 20th century, Mojeiko became one of the most popular science fiction writers in our country. The secret of his success lies in his unbridled imagination and incredible productivity. Hundreds of stories, novellas, and novels have come from Mojeiko's pen. There were also translations of foreign science fiction – more than two dozen authors. The collected works of Kir Bulychev released at the beginning of the 21st century consist of 18 volumes. An important place in them is occupied by «Alice's» – a cycle dedicated to the adventures of Alice Selezneva, with whom the reader will meet again on the pages of this book.
The illustrations in this edition were created by Evgeny Tikhonovich Migunov. He almost always depicts his heroes in motion; the artist has worked for many years in animated cinema. In 1939, Evgeny Tikhonovich entered the artistic faculty of the All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography, where he began studying in the workshop of the famous Ivanov-Vano. After graduating from VGIK, Migunov became not just an ordinary animation artist, but a true innovator in drawn and puppet cinema. His creative developments played an important role in the establishment of the modern school of Russian animation. Migunov invented new techniques, patented inventions that helped «bring to life» puppets, and suggested new directorial techniques. Since 1961, Evgeny Tikhonovich began collaborating with magazines «Murzilka», «Funny Pictures», «Pioneer», «Crocodile», making numerous illustrations for them. The master's hand is recognized at first glance. In 1965, a novella by the Strugatsky brothers «Monday Begins on Saturday» was published with his illustrations. In style and technique, they are very similar to Evgeny Tikhonovich's drawings for Bulychev's novellas – their main distinguishing feature is dynamism.
