FBI agent Terry McCaleb retired early to recover from a heart transplant operation. Let other people catch serial killers now... But when certain circumstances surrounding his donor's death arise that baffle the police, he decides to take a risk and conduct his own investigation. Terry immediately doubts that the life of a young woman, shot during a store robbery, was cut short by a random bullet. It seems this was a devilish setup concocted by a calculating and incredibly cruel killer. In 2002, a film based on Connelly's book was made at «Warner Bros.». The director and lead role was played by Clint Eastwood.
