Bow to the Shadow. Essay

The book includes selected essays by Joseph Brodsky from 1976 to 1995. In them, the poet recalls his childhood and youth, his hometown and loved ones, shares impressions of events in his life in exile, and reflects on the place of literature in the modern world. Most of the essays were written in English and included in the author's collections «Less Than One» and «On Grief and Reason». They are supplemented by the rarely published «The Writer - a Lonely Traveler...» (1972) and «Isaiah Berlin at Eighty» (1989).
