Abraham Ibn Ezra (1089–1164) is one of the most prominent personalities in the history of the Jewish Golden Age, poet, philosopher, astrologer, physician and commentator on the Tanakh. In Europe he is known as one of the most authoritative medieval experts in astrology. This publication introduces the Russian-speaking reader to Ibn Ezra, an astrologer. “The Beginning of Wisdom” is the most important and most famous of Ibn Ezra’s astrological treatises, which sets out the basic principles of contemporary astrology. “The Book of Justifications” is the author’s commentary on this treatise. In structure and content, “The Beginning of Wisdom” and “The Book of Justifications” form a single whole.
