The Glass Curtain: A Novel

«The Glass Curtain» is the concluding part of the novel «Birch Grove», whose main character, Valentina Lebedeva, a provincial masseuse with the talent of a healer, becomes the most popular TV host in the country. The action takes place in 1996, Russia is buzzing on the eve of presidential elections, and black political technologies are unleashed on the population for the first time. Due to fraudulent advertising of water, Valentina is ready to leave television. However, producer Ada Rudolph sends her to "cool off" on official trips to Sweden and Denmark, which helps Valentina to see both herself and her country with new eyes. At a reception with Danish Queen Margrethe II, Valentina meets a healer from Bolivia, who conducts a cleansing ritual for her.
