The second volume of the cult retelling of King Arthur and the women invisibly standing behind him. Morgaine, the sister of the High King, would like to return to Avalon but has lost her way to it. She has become merely a shadow of the Lady, as others see her. Gwenyfar falls into the abyss of her own feelings, then fears them, finding solace in religion.
