Sunday lives in a small town. She finds it difficult to communicate with people, so she looks for clues on how to engage in conversations and host guests in a guide to etiquette and Sicilian folklore. She has a close relationship only with her daughter, but Dolly is already sixteen, about to fly out of the nest, and Sunday is already worried about it. When a glamorous London couple, Vita and Rollo, move in nearby and disarm with their charm, her anxiety only grows. Dolly increasingly lingers at their home, forgetting to inform her mother, sharing secrets less often, and behaving more strangely.
