The "military theme," which became the life and fate of Konstantin Simonov, entered his lyrics not with the roar of artillery, but with a piercing melody, both courageous and tender. His poems - about love and fidelity, about valor and cowardice, about friendship and betrayal - were passed from soldier to soldier, rewritten. They helped to survive.
