Lucky People

1952. Cardiff, the Tiger Bay area, a refuge for Somali and West Indian sailors, Maltese traders, and Jewish families. These people, whose very existence in a foreign land entirely depends on luck, guard it, try to attract it, cherish and... nurture it, and at the same time, deep down, they perfectly understand that without their luck they are powerless.
Mahmoud Mattan is a husband, a father, a petty fraudster, and a risky guy. He is a pleasant conversationalist, a charismatic conman, and a lucky player. He is anyone but a killer. When the local shopkeeper is brutally murdered at night, Mahmoud immediately comes under suspicion. He isn’t too worried, as he has seen worse things in his life, especially since he is now in a country where the concepts of law and justice exist. It is only when the date of the trial approaches and his chances of returning home begin to dwindle that he realizes that the truth may not be enough to save him.
