Gabriela, Clove and Cinnamon

The novel "Gabriela" was published in Brazil in 1958 and had the effect of an exploded bomb. In two weeks, 20,000 copies were sold, and in a year—120,000 copies of the book. In Russian, the novel was published in 1961, and according to Ilya Ehrenburg—Amado's friend: "Gabriela is read here without taking one's eyes off the book".

"Gabriela" is a sunny novel. Its main heroine is sincere, simple-hearted, selfless, she loves life in all its manifestations.
