The Thirtieth-Year Woman. Nineteen Illustrations by Charles Ward

The novel «The Thirtieth-Year Woman», which gave rise to the expression «woman of Balzacian age», is part of the larger cycle «The Human Comedy». Balzac worked on this novel for a long time, from 1829 to 1842, rewriting already written stories. The text of the novel is provided in the translation by A. A. Khudadova. The edition is adorned with illustrations made by the French artist Charles Ward. His works emphasize the characters of the novel and help to imagine the environment surrounding them.
