The Mystery of the Ornken Castle

The life of the main character of Paul Delroze's novel is enveloped in a terrible secret. In childhood, Paul witnessed the murder of his father, and the name of the killer remained unknown for many years. Only on the very day of the main character's wedding does the veil of mystery begin to lift. Dramatic events unfold, resulting in Paul parting ways with his dearly loved wife. However, it turns out that he is following a false trail left by German intelligence.
The author of the novel is the classic French detective writer Maurice Leblanc, the literary father of the immensely popular gentleman thief Arsène Lupin. His new literary character - Paul Delroze - could very well have become a popular hero of a whole series of novels and even overshadow the fame of Arsène Lupin. But Maurice Leblanc chose not to develop this theme, and we can only guess what compelled the author to abandon such a promising idea.
