The book contains the trilogy by Alexei Cherkasov and Polina Moskvitina "Tales of the Taiga People". "Hop" is a novel about the history of Siberia, recreating events from the Decembrists' uprising to the upheavals of the early 20th century. "The Red Horse" narrates the events of the Civil War in Krasnoyarsk and the Yenisei province. In the concluding part, "The Black Poplar" tells about a Siberian village in the 1920s, the period of the Great Patriotic War, and the early post-war years.
