In the winter of 1912, in one of the districts of the Pskov province, a bloody murder occurred, shocking in its brutality and scale. An unknown villain spared not only the adult inhabitants of a wealthy house but also the young children. Investigator Konstantin Pavlovich Marshal took on the case, but it is not so easy, as there are no living witnesses left. It seems that something is known to a strange girl, who always appears in black, but obtaining testimony from her is impossible: she has been silent for a long time. However, the young investigator does not give up... The novel is based on real events.
