Nightmares.

The book presents two collections of stories by the outstanding German writer Hans Heinz Ewers. The collection "Nightmares" is presented here in its entirety for the first time in Russian; some stories from the collection "The Possessed" have been translated... anew. His peers called Ewers the most repulsive type among their acquaintances, while readers dubbed him the "German Edgar Poe." The great Lovecraft admired his stories and novels. Ewers' work, exposing the horror of human relationships, absorbed the traditions of Romanticism, Decadence, and Expressionism. The heroes of his stories find themselves in situations that require monstrous willpower and the tension of the darkest sides of human nature.
