Thomas Robert Malthus 1766 -1834 – an English economist, representative of classical political economy in England, member of the Royal Society of London, foreign member of the French Academy of Moral and Political Sciences, foreign honorary member of the Imperial... Academy of Sciences in St. Petersburg. In the book Essay on the Law of Population, Malthus wrote that if population growth is not hindered by any causes, the population will double every quarter of a century and, therefore, grow in a geometric progression. Due to limited resources, this will inevitably lead to poverty, famine, and social upheaval. Malthus's ideas were rejected and refuted by many, including the classics of Marxism. But later, economists returned again and again to Malthus's conclusions. His views, despite everything, remain relevant to this day, especially in light of the green agenda.
