The stories in the collection by Pyotr Davydov are united by a common theme — the people of the Russian North. These include priests, laity, and even foreigners who, by the will of fate, settled in our northern lands, accepted Orthodoxy, and in a sense became even more Russian than many of us. Despite the light witty manner of presentation, the author touches on serious issues related to the life of the northern village and its possible revival.
