First on the List

Young Karola embarks on an adventure: she needs to find people who once knew her mother Patricia, who is currently suffering from cancer. Their names were mentioned by Patricia in a letter she wrote for her daughters, so the girls would not be completely alone in case of her death. During this search, Karola gradually uncovers the circumstances of her own birth and discovers how deeply her parents' past influences her, the astonishing way in which she and her mother are connected to people they had no knowledge of until yesterday, and how important it is to find the strength to let go of grievances and to part with illusions in time.
The novel "First on the List" opens the author’s series by contemporary Polish writer Magdalena Witkiewicz, whose books are sold by the tens of thousands in her homeland.
