USA. Recent past. Several people in different parts of the country suffer from unexplained ailments: Dominic, a writer, — from sleepwalking, Ginger, a doctor at Columbia University's hospital, — from brief unconscious episodes, priest Brendan loses his faith — yet gains the gift of healing in return, Ernie, a former Marine who served in Vietnam, is struck by a fear of the dark. They all share one thing in common: last summer, they all stayed at the "Tranquility" motel in Nevada. That is where all their personal troubles began.
