Atlas of the Unseen. A World We Did Not Know

Geographer James Cheshire and designer Oliver Uberti transformed disparate data into visual graphics, maps, and diagrams that reflect trends in various areas of our lives. The atlas they created allows us to see a reality that is usually hidden from... our eyes: happiness graphs in different countries, levels of daily workload for men and women, birth and death rates, patterns of glacier melting. Visualized data can become a useful tool for people in power. For example, information on American car trips establishes more accurate state boundaries in the United States than those marked on maps. And data on fishing vessel routes allows judgment on the legality of their activities, contributing to the fight against illegal fishing.
"Atlas of the Unseen" will show how global warming destabilizes the atmosphere, how mobile phone data reflects population migration, and where the highest number of fires occur on the planet. These facts will provide a new perspective on the surrounding world and encourage more responsible management of natural resources.
