Catherine O’Connor, a smart and determined girl, could not come to terms with the detrimental impact of Dr. Wynn Jeffries' methods, outlined in the sensational book «The Free Child», on the upbringing of her nieces, which her sister Zelda was utterly thrilled about. Catherine passionately expressed her point of view to the author when she accidentally met him in a French café, where she was composing another Christmas letter. Her «performance» ended in a scandal, and Miss O’Connor, though she considered herself right, regretted her lack of restraint, because she was quite taken with Jeffries, and then a neighbor informed her that she «saw the future» in which Catherine and Wynn were in love with each other...
