Dickens' mysticism is very diverse, just as in the folklore that inspired him – poetic and naive, joking and serious. Some works are heartbreakingly tender, while others have a strong moral and ethical message. Some are elegantly stylized to look old-fashioned, while others, on the contrary, are distinctly domestic. Good humor coexists with black and gallows humor, and mischief is combined with seriousness that would do credit to Gothic authors. The reader will have to endure curiosity until the very end – which mystical story will ultimately receive a quite earthly explanation, and which will remain a door opened to the unknown...
