In this story, I depict this fear, this evil, from which there is no escape, for we all understand perfectly well that the fire of Isengard will grow, and there will be no Shire. And irrational evil will only be defeated by an equally uncontrollable unconscious. You can laugh at the surreal, condemn it, be offended by it, admire it, but you certainly won't be able to remain indifferent, and the main weapon of evil is indifference.
