The Riddles of Master and Margarita Unraveled

A vast amount has been written about the great novel by Mikhail Bulgakov, «Master and Margarita». Nevertheless, many of its riddles still await their explanation.

«Master and Margarita» is a novel that is not only satirical, philosophical, historical, fantastic, and mystical. It is also, not least, a political novel. Moreover, since its publication was intended in conditions of strict censorship, the political satire was carefully encoded. The book tells about certain Soviet political figures who served as prototypes for several characters in «Master and Margarita».
