The third volume of the book project "Recently. Our Era. 1981–1990" is dedicated to the particularly eventful decade of the 1980s. The era began with mourning marches at the funerals of general secretaries and then accelerated into a devastating revolution. The old men from the Politburo, the food program, the book "Little Land", shops of socialist countries, "The Irony of Fate", the Italian pop scene were replaced by the rivalry between Gorbachev and Yeltsin, cooperative cafes, glasnost, the reunification of Germany, "Little Vera" and "Intergirl", rock in stadiums.
The arrival of Rust, the allowance of photocopies, the Chernobyl explosion, the rehabilitation of the Church, telebridges, "stone-wash" jeans, the fight against alcoholism, the first direct elections, the first strikes, the first "soap operas" and the first hostages, sugar coupons, Chumak and Kashpirovsky – the 80s once again showcased the astonishing variety of forms of resilience of the Soviet person. The book contains over 500 photographs, drawings, caricatures, and other illustrations.
