The Red Horse" – a continuation of the novel "Khmely" and the second part of the famous trilogy by Alexei Cherkasov "Tales of the People of the Taiga," created in collaboration with his wife Polina Moskvina. The novel was written... in 1972 – later than the other books of the trilogy, and is dedicated to the turbulent events of the Civil War. Siberia is engulfed by white terror, and even the unyielding Old Believers could not remain on the sidelines of political events: the White Yelanya has split into two camps, stirred up by the swift passage of formidable and relentless time. "Time is not a horse; you cannot ride it, cannot calm it – it flies and rushes, but where? And how will it be tomorrow, the day after tomorrow? Ruin or health? Will chaotic time drag us toward good or ill?" The necessity to choose his path also confronts the main character of the novel – Cossack foreman Noy Lebed, nicknamed the Red Horse, whose actions are guided by an unwavering faith in the triumph of good and justice: "No one will overthrow my conscience. And honor. That's what the whole white world stands on."
