American physicist Richard Feynman is one of the greatest scientists of the 20th century, Nobel Prize winner in quantum electrodynamics.
At one time, the faculty of the California Institute of Technology pondered how to restructure the physics course to make it more engaging and contemporary. Richard Feynman enthusiastically embraced this idea and agreed to give an original two-year course of lectures on general physics, but only once. The university, for which this event became historic, organized the recording of the lectures, and then a team of physicists prepared a multi-volume edition that is still considered one of the best introductory courses in physics.
