The songs of V. S. Vysotsky have been captivating listeners for many years. This book is about his songs. About the history of their creation and performance. About the author's attitude towards them and that of his contemporaries. But most importantly – about what is contained in these songs: about their characters, plots, meanings, social roots, cultural allusions, and influence on culture and society.
