Pistis Sophia. Christian Gnostic Treatise in Russian Literary Interpretation

«Pistis Sophia» – the longest and richest in content and, apparently, the latest Gnostic text, written in the late 3rd century CE in the Greek language in Roman Egypt and clearly of an initiatory character. The Greek original of the text has not survived; however, two Coptic versions have come down to us – an unpublished and still original version of the Coptic translation made in the 4th century and kept in the British Museum, as well as its handwritten copy made by Karl Woide in the second half of the 18th century. Previous complete and fragmentary Russian academic translations of the text, carried out by professional linguists from Woide's copy, were in great demand among readers and have long become bibliographic rarities. Today we present to you the publication of the first complete commented and already literary translation of this monument, made in 2009, but still officially unpublished in book format.
