Wuthering Heights. Poetry

«Wuthering Heights» — an astonishingly powerful novel by English writer Emily Brontë, one of the most mysterious works of world literature. It tells the story of the fateful passion of Heathcliff, the adopted son of the owner of the estate «Wuthering Heights», and the owner’s daughter Catherine. Emily Brontë tragically left this world too soon, leaving readers extraordinary images of dark heath lands, where human passions rage. And yet, how did the daughter of a parish priest manage to create such «fierce and relentless natures»? These are the words of Charlotte Brontë, astonished by how her sister's work did not conform to the morals of the Victorian era.
This edition includes not only the novel «Wuthering Heights», but also translations of Emily Brontë's poems — her contemporaries considered her a talented poetess. Many of these poems are translated into Russian for the first time. The texts are accompanied by illustrations and reproductions of paintings by renowned English artists — Charles Brock, Percy Tarrant, Evelyn de Morgan.
