The Great and Secret Show

Randolph Jaffe, a lonely quiet loser, gets a job at the post office in Omaha and ends up in the undelivered mail department. While sorting through tons of correspondence, he unexpectedly realizes that in some of the strangest messages lies hidden knowledge about the true structure of the world, about a certain sea of dreams called the Essence, the source of dreams and desires of all people on Earth, as well as about a power capable of bending space and time, which is referred to in the letters as the Art. Feeling that he has finally found a purpose in life, and changing under the influence of the knowledge he has received, Jaffe obsessively decides to master the Art, penetrate the Essence, and gain true power. However, he does not yet know that he will soon acquire a powerful enemy, that the search may radically distort the seeker himself, and that the Essence harbors many secrets; in this sea, there are other shores, and it is better for humanity never to encounter their inhabitants. Thus begins an epic journey, which destiny will lead the rivals to the small town of Palomo Grove, which will become the arena for truly apocalyptic events.
