The Canonical Bible of Large Format in Modern Translation

In preparing the "New Translation of the Bible into Russian", the best available texts in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek were used. The translation of the Old Testament began in 1994 and was completed in 2006. At the same time, the translation of the New Testament, which was named "Word of Life", was underway. This translation became part of the "New Translation of the Bible into Russian". The editing process took into account numerous Old Testament quotes and references included in the New Testament, as well as the stylistic uniqueness of the Old Testament. Special attention during the translation and editing was given to conveying the correct meaning of each passage.
After the release of the "New Translation into Russian" in 2007, many comments and suggestions were submitted for consideration by revision editors. Many changes and corrections were made in this version of the translation, the work on which was completed in December 2012.
A distinguishing feature of this translation was the desire to maintain a phrasing closest to the original language in Russian and to use a modern and understandable language for most current readers.
The text of the translation also had to possess excellent literary quality so that it could be used in worship services, educational institutions, and for individual reading. Moreover, the team of translators and editors strived to maintain the continuity of the traditions of Bible translation into Russian.
