Gentlemen Prefer Blondes

For a true gentleman, meeting a blonde never goes without consequence – in both the literal and figurative sense of the word! In this, the famous screenwriter and writer Anita Loos (1888–1981) was repeatedly convinced by her own experience: by... her own admission, she associated herself with the brunette Dorothy – the life-wise friend of the charming blonde Lorelei Lee. A wonderful storyteller, Loos began publishing short stories from Lorelei's life in «Harper’s Bazaar» in 1925, and due to their popularity, the magazine's circulation grew fourfold. The book «Gentlemen Prefer Blondes» and its sequel «But Gentlemen Marry Brunettes» (1927) achieved enormous success, as evidenced by the emergence of a musical Broadway version of the work. And in 1953, a film was released starring the unforgettable Marilyn Monroe in the leading role.
