In a delicate stylization, Bédier revived the old, artless intonation of the romance, clearing it of unnecessary details. "The Romance of Tristan and Isolde" (1900) in the adaptation by J. Bédier has taken on new life. This edition includes a postscript by the renowned literary scholar N.R. Malinovskaya, as well as necessary comments. The book reproduces 128 illustrations created by the outstanding German artist Robert Engels for the collectible French edition of 1900.
