The new collected works of Heinrich Sapgir is an attempt not only to gather a significant portion of what was written by the remarkable Russian poet and prose writer of the second half of the 20th century but also to... create an integral image of this unique (even for this period of our literature) universal writer. He not only wrote with equal pleasure for adults and children but also seemed to embody the Lарионов-Goncharov concept of 'everythingness': the combination of all known ideas, styles, and techniques of contemporary writing, which are both radically avant-garde and deeply rooted in the most profound national tradition while engaging in a constant provocative dialogue with it. The second volume of the collection, 'Myths,' includes works of various genres by Heinrich Sapgir, appealing to the mythological consciousness of the reader: from traditional ancient and biblical plots, decisively reinterpreted by the poet, to the mythologization of the everyday life of Moscow bohemia from the 1960s to the 1990s occurring before our eyes.
