Buddha, or the Indian prince Siddhartha Gautama, – (623 – 544 BC) – is known to the Russian reader mainly as the founder of Buddhism – a religion of global scale – and is practically unknown as a Christian and Orthodox saint. Moreover, up to now, the acquaintance of the Russian reader with the ideas of Buddha has been greatly hindered by the absence of a full-fledged Russian text that could serve as a basis for understanding his teachings, as translations were made by specialists for specialists and suffered from an abundance of Indian words and terms that are difficult to understand and interpret.
Now Buddha speaks clearly in Russian for the first time. In addition, the selection of material itself differs significantly from what was accepted before, with an emphasis on the practical aspects of the teachings. The new structure of the collection of Buddha's sayings is not formal but is determined by the logic of Buddhist teaching itself. In the newly arranged text, the finest pure energy clearly vibrates, emanating from the restored and skillfully selected thoughts of the great sage and prophet.
