About the Game
"Arkham Horror: The Card Game" is a cooperative Living Card Game set in the Lovecraftian myths, where 1-2 investigators (with a second set – 3-4) jointly explore a world of occultism, ancient gods, and mysteries, while battling their inner demons from the past.Each player takes on the role of one of the investigators and builds their own deck based on their character's abilities. The gameplay consists of interrelated scenarios that set the game's pace and create a narrative. Games are extremely atmospheric! The scenario set transforms into a campaign. In each scenario, investigators encounter different locations and explore them in search of clues necessary for advancing the investigation and revealing secrets. During the game, investigators face opponents and curses, trying to overcome all adversities and defeat the enemies of the Mythos. Howard Phillips Lovecraft was born on August 20, 1890, in Providence, the capital of Rhode Island – the smallest state in America. His father was traveling salesman Winfield Scott Lovecraft, and his mother was Sara Susan Phillips, an extremely caring and seriously ill woman.As the future master of horror from Providence grew up, he was likely burdened by his mother's illness and the shadow of death that hung over the house. The world of his obsessive fantasies took shape slowly but surely. He was first an amateur journalist, maintaining extensive correspondence with other writers before he began to create on his own.The characteristic dark imagery of Lovecraft emerged in his first mature story – "The Tomb." However, the Cthulhu Mythos only arose in 1926 when the writer created a cosmic pantheon of nightmarish monsters that made him famous among posterity. The spirit of decay and corruption pervades Arkham, Dunwich, Innsmouth, Kingsport – dark towns of degenerates, madmen, and blasphemers. Lovecraft's stories are grim and hopeless. Players control character actions through their investigator deck. Scenarios lead campaigns, offering fascinating adventures.Each round begins with the Myth phase. During this phase, a horror token is placed on the agenda card, and each player draws a card from the contact deck. If there is a curse on the game board, a check is made of the indicated skill on the curse, and if you fail, a negative effect is triggered. If there is a monster on the card, it becomes attached to the investigator, who must either fight it or try to slip past.Next comes the Investigation phase, where players perform 3 actions from the available ones in any convenient order:Draw a card
Gain resources
Activate an action from a previously played card
Summon a monster to themselves
Attempt to evade a monster
Attack a monster
Attempt to gather clues
Move to another location
Play a card from hand for resources
After the players' turn, the Monsters phase begins. There are many different opponents, some enemies move toward the heroes, while those that have already approached attack, automatically inflicting horror and wounds on the investigators.At the end of the round, the Rest phase occurs, in which all players draw a card and gain one resource each.Who Wins?
Since the game is a team effort, all players either lose or win together. Players progress through the scenario and reach a resolution. Some endings are more favorable, and they can be counted as a victory. Others leave investigators in difficult and dangerous situations.
