The reader always perceives classical texts as a given, as if the form in which they arose is the only possible one. I suggest that the reader pose an interesting question — why was Dante's "Divine Comedy" written? Why did... it take this particular form? To which genre does this text belong? To approach the answers, we will turn to the intellectual tradition of the ancient Mediterranean and medieval Iran, discover a new genre of philosophical text — "a journey into oneself" — we will enter Dante's inner theater, examine its scenography, and appreciate the performance of the actors in this whimsical monodrama. But this is not enough. In order to express a guess about the reason for the emergence of the "Divine Comedy", we need to consider all of Dante's texts as a system, as a unified text, and understand its connection to the life strategy of the Florentine poet. Only then, at the end of the journey, will the shadow of understanding those thoughts, forces, and circumstances that can give rise to "forced genius" emerge before us.
